  Have the Jehovah's Witnesses brought reproach on the name Jehovah?

  i would have to say yes...by tagging god's alledged name in their title and attaching to it unusual doctrines, end of world date predictions, deadly blood interpretation, abusive shunning policy, csa cover ups.. is there more?.

  i doubt if jehovah cares one way or the other. I'm sure he would do something about it if he did.

  Arent there other religions that also use the name in their title ?

  Ice Skating on Eiffel Tower?

  my wife and i are heading to paris for christmas this year.

  it's a landmark year for all sorts of reasons, milestone anniversary her milestone birthday, and my recovery.

  she loves ice skating.

  the day i went to the eiffel tower the queues were horrendous. It was bitterly cold in february. I didnt bother.

  pimo , as i said i`m going out on a limb here and i might upset some people ,but i really don`t think this is a real strategy that works and doesn`t help the person who is still in.. while you may be doing this to keep the peace in the household and keep relations somewhat stable in the family arrangement ,it`s not helping the person who is still under the control of wt/gb to break free from it ,and isn`t that what you would really like to happen ?.

  and are their children involved as well ?

  that`s another issue ,the longer they are subject to this control the harder it will be for them to disengage get free.. maybe you should re-evaluate what you could do more to help your partner / spouse or whatever to free themselves from this bondage they have involved themselves in.. [ of course their may be others who are quite happy to have their partners/mates under the control of the wt/gb.

  What I imagine is the worst is if somebody is a PIMO and still serving as an elder and has no intention of leaving!!!.

  we had one such on here a few weeks ago: posted lots of threads--then disappeared. Claimed he was in London--but i suspect he was in Croatia.

  it's becoming unbearable for me to attend another meeting.

  i dread coming to the weekly sunday public talk and watchtower study.

  the talks are ''repeats'' of a ''repeat.

  i hated going. I had resigned years before--i only attended to stop my 3rd gen wife endlessly nagging me. Finally--42 years ago, she divorced me and i was free at last.

  i spent most of my life in the org.

  we were taught that our purpose in life was to serve jehovah.

  that never really made sense to me, but it was still a purpose to keep going.

  i was PIMO many years before it was invented.

  But not leading a double life thing..going to meetings going door knocking etc to keep up a pretense. Nope--i resigned--bam--just like that. DO not call me brother anymore--its Mr from now on.

  But i did occasionally attend a meeting--to appease my wife..but everyone knew i was not a JW any more--

  i cannot understand how some can live a lie.

  this "false " religion notion puzzles me.

  There is only one god--isnt there ?

  All religions worship god..so why are they "false"

  Or is it a case of a business masquerading as a religion being the false one ?
